Welcome to Thomas Telford Journals

Thomas Telford is the knowledge business of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).  We’ve been publishing the latest thinking in civil engineering since 1836.  Our collection of journals and books covers the key sub-disciplines of civil engineering research and practice.  Many of our journals are included in the Science Citation Index®, are widely abstracted and indexed, and feature ahead-of-print publication.

Founded in 1818, ICE is the world’s oldest professional engineering body, and ICE Proceedings are the world’s oldest continuously published civil engineering journals.  The ICE Virtual Library contains the full text of all material published in ICE Proceedings and various association publications, since the first publication in 1836.  A free demonstration is available here.

Spotlight
New Journals for 2008 and 2009

 Engineering and Computational Mechanics cover
Engineering and Computational Mechanics
will publish papers and technical notes on fundamental applied mechanics in civil engineering, covering solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, the behaviour of granular materials, structural, stress and strain analysis, and the dynamics of structures and fluid/structure interactions.

  Urban Design and Planning cover

Urban Design and Planning
will publish papers and short articles addressing the design and planning of the built environment, covering social, economic and environmental aspects of topics such as sustainable settlements, community regeneration, urban infrastructure and transport systems.                                                              Click here for further details.

Engineering History and Heritage

Engineering History and Heritage covers all aspects of the history and heritage of civil engineering and construction.  Its scope includes developing sustainable energy policy and technology, renewable energy, nuclear power, fossil fuels, electricity generation and transmission, district heating, storage schemes, energy conservation and improving energy efficiency.

Dams and Reservoirs

Dams and Reservoirs is the official journal of the British Dam Society (BDS), and welcomes high quality technical papers, technical notes, briefing articles, case studies and discussions from all over the world.  The journal reports on the work of the BDS worldwide and the related work of the International Commission on Large Dams.
